College of Science Digital Signage
The College of Science Dean's Office maintains the digital signage in the lobbies of Duncan Hall, MacQuarrie Hall, the old Science Building and the Interdisciplinary Science Building. While these monitors are largely intended to disseminate information for science majors, thousands of other students, staff, faculty, administrators, and university visitors pass by the signs daily. Here are some best practices for successful digital flyers:
- Since the monitors are in landscape, content must be 16:9 (1920 x 1080) in dimension (Powerpoint slide size, sent as PDF).
- Keep your message simple: Keep text to six short lines at most.
- Highlight why a reader should "care" about your flyer → Direct “Call to actions”,
like:
- “Sign up by X date!”
- “Attend Y event!”
- Direct reader to a website or a physical location for more information (use QR codes > links).
- Use color and images to attract readers' eyes.
If you would like to add a flyer to the College of Science digital monitors, please email Lisa Andreasen at [email protected]. Flyers must be 16:9 (1920 x 1080), and sent as .pdf or a .png file.
Please find a few basic monitor templates for you to use: Canva, Powerpoint [pptx]. All you need to do is make a copy of the template, upload the pictures and input your text!
